Ingredients
For the Steak
- 1 lb sirloin steak, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
For the Pasta
- 12 oz penne pasta
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Sear the Steak
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Toss the steak slices with Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes.
Sear for 2–3 minutes per side until browned and cooked to your liking.
Remove from skillet and set aside.
2. Sauté the Vegetables
In the same pan, add diced onion and sliced red bell pepper.
Cook for 5 minutes, or until the vegetables soften.
Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 more minute until fragrant.
3. Cook the Pasta
Add the uncooked penne pasta directly into the skillet.
Pour in beef broth and bring the mixture to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has absorbed.
4. Make It Creamy
Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese.
Mix well until the sauce becomes smooth, creamy, and evenly coats the pasta.
5. Combine and Finish
Return the seared steak to the skillet.
Stir gently and allow everything to simmer together for another 2–3 minutes.
Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.
6. Serve
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.
Serve hot, straight from the skillet.
Tips for Success
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for best flavor and texture
- Swap sirloin for ribeye or flank steak if preferred
- Add mushrooms or spinach for extra depth
