INGREDIENTS:
– 250g lasagna noodles
– 450g minced beef
– 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
– 6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled
– 250ml BBQ sauce
– 1 large onion, diced
– 410g can of diced tomatoes, drained (available at most supermarkets)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh cilantro for garnish (available at most supermarkets)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Cook the Noodles: Boil the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Brown the Beef: In a large pan, cook the minced beef with diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat, then stir in BBQ sauce, diced tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
3. Layer the Lasagna: In a greased baking dish, layer 3 lasagna noodles, half of the beef mixture, half the bacon, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Repeat layers, ending with a final layer of noodles.
4. Top & Bake: Sprinkle the top with remaining cheese and bacon. Cover with foil and bake at 180°C for 30 minutes, removing foil for the last 10 minutes to allow the cheese to melt and turn golden.
5. Garnish & Serve: Let cool for 10 minutes, then garnish with fresh cilantro before slicing and serving!
Notes:
– You can find lasagna noodles, minced beef, cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, and diced tomatoes at most supermarkets in South Africa.
– If you can’t find BBQ sauce, you can use a similar sauce like sweet chili sauce or braai sauce.
– You can also use fresh tomatoes instead of canned diced tomatoes.
– Make sure to adjust the amount of salt and pepper to taste.
